Grammarian - Holy/Prot Paladin Empty
PostSubject: Grammarian - Holy/Prot Paladin   Grammarian - Holy/Prot Paladin EmptyTue 20 Jul 2010, 20:56

Personal Information
Your real name:
Anton
Age and Country:
24 years old. Moscow, Russia
Tell us about yourself:
At the moment I`m taking position of Deputy Directory Business Development in the big Russian cinema construciton and operating chain.
Also I'm in the middle of getting the PhD degree in investment management (it doesn't take time at all since studying has always been pretty easy to me)
I'm renting a flat with my wife and enjoying my life. I'm open-hearted and easy going person with willingness to go an extra mile to get the things done.
Tell us about your history in WoW or other MMOs:
Played lots of online FPS and Warcraft 3 before. Have been playing WoW since October 2009. Even though it is not that much I have covered pretty every aspect of the game I could get my hands on. My first server was EU-Bloodhoof (I liked the name when created my first character). There is not much to mention about Bloodhoof - it is as dominated by Alliance as Twisting Nether is dominated by Horde. I used to raid with Osaka guild which is top10 on the horde side. PvE part of the horde side was really weak as well - that's the main reason I transfered to Twisting Nether two weeks ago. I expect to get as much high end raiding as possible both in ICC hc and upcoming Cataclysm raids.
Info about your computer and internet connection:
E6300, 4Gb RAM, HD4850 512Mb, 24" BenQ 1900x1080
Do you use an Authenticator?:
Yes. Mobile version.
How stable is your internet connection?:
20/20 Mbit, stable.
How much fps do you normally have in 25man raids in combat?
50+
Whats your ping (latency) in dalaran?
70-90ms
Does ANY other person have or will ever have access/password to your account? :
No
Did you read and understand the criteria for joining us inside the "Application Template"? Answer in Yes or No
Yes
Character Information
Character Name:
Grammarian
Class & Race:
Paladin, Blood Elf
Professions (including Cooking & Fishing): (State your skill and rare recipies also)
Jewelcrafting 450, 98% of all WotLK epic gem recipes, made over 100k gold dominating the epic gem market at AH of my previous realm (EU-Bloodhoof)
Alchemy 450, everything any normal person may need
Cooking 450, everything anyone can need including Savory Deviate Delight
First Aid 450
Fishing 342
Main spec: Holy. I really enjoy playing holy since it requires lots of concentration and brings responsibility for the raid. Even though I have the same gear level for tank spec I personally don't find it to be as challenging and demanding as playing holy at high level of content.
Off Spec: Protectioin, tanking is so much easier and relaxing than healing to me – have tanked ICC all the way to the LK and have absolutely no probs with that
Armory Profile:
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Twisting+Nether&n=Grammarian
Information about your Keybindings: (We need to know what sort of keybindings you use for your spells/abiltiies.)
I`m using HealBot addon to handle all healing/hands and many more. Keybinds are used for macroses and some general stuff mostly. Anyways you can see them at my UI screenshot.
Do you have Ventrilo and a working microphone?: (Yes / No)
Yes. Can also use any imaginable voice communication tool (Skype, Mumble, Teamspeak)
Previous PvE Experience:
Since I have started playing WoW in late October 2009 I didn't really have a chance to raid or even see classic or tbc content in the manner intended by Blizzard.
Classic: n/a
TBC: n/a
WotLK: TogC 10 - 5/5 (45 tries), ToC 25 - 5/5, ICC 10 12/12, ICC 10hc 6/12, ICC 25 10/12, ICC 25hc 2/12
Hodir rep level : Exalted
First aid level : 450
Do you have any PvP experience? If so what rating and bracket? (High rating players is a huge plus)
2v2 2000+ as hpala/affli lock
3v3 1800+ as hpala/affli lock/ele shaman
Do you have any out of game skills useful to the guild like web designing or movie making?:
No
List names and class of every character you played at least up to level 70+(Experience with other classes is a small plus)
Despite of not having much time to level many characters to 80 I have MM hunter Onetrickpony trasfered with me to Twisted Nether.
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Twisting+Nether&cn=Onetrickpony
Do you know anyone from Results May Vary?
No
What do you expect from Results May Vary?
I expect to get a stable and mature guild to discover and clear high end content with. The most important part for me is the friendly atmosphere inside the guild as well as mature attitude to what happens in the game.
Are you fine with respeccing to a spec of the guilds need?
Absolutely
We raid Thursday and Monday 19:00-23:00. Does the times suit you?
Yes
How active do you plan to be? What days can you and cant you raid?
I can raid any day and time arranged beforehand.
Who controls your game time? (Wife/Girlfriend etc)
Even though I have a wife we respect each others values and the situation when someone tries to control the other's time is not even possible.
Any additional information you need to tell us?
This is joint application with my real life friend with whom I started to play WoW.
His name is Tryptamine (resto shaman).

First time i hear that, all i do is press a few buttons for 4hours and hope the tanks stay alive Razz.

Now serious;

Could you wear your holy gear on Armory (Log out in Holy gear), till then i can't say anything about that. Apart from that we have 4 very active Holy paladins allready, and that we don't need another one if they stay as active as they are.

Almost every gear item has haste, yet it is still very low :p
I only see one problem: Where are your tier items?

But like Zimmer said, we allready have 4 active holy paladins.
And even though I like to go pewpew, I don't know if we need those.
I have no idea about the tanks, so good luck!

As far as I can remember 685 haste is a softcap for holy paladin and that's the point where you want to be.
That's the point when your Holy Lights are 1.3sec (1.2 sec at 1000 haste) with Holy Grace, JofP and haste totem up.
With Bloodlust this is reduced to 1sec and since GCD can't go any lower than 1sec I personally don't think it is really worth stacking haste beyond 685.
No doubt more haste = better, but after that point haste scales so bad that it is really better to get something else (like mp5).

When it comes to t10 set - there are much better itemized alternatives at ilvl264 and I have always found myself good without 2-piece bonus
and performed better than any other holy pala I have met so far (even though almost all of them got the 2-piece bonus).
When I have access to icc25hc marks I will certainly get helm and shoulders (ilvl277) since it is no brainer to have that bonus for some high-end hardmodes.

4 hpalas is a lot and you don't really need any more if current players are active and reliable. That's why you could may be check my tanking spec/gear and let me know if I have a chance to join you.

You are right with the haste thing, but what else to stack? Stacking for mp5 is a waste, since you won't need it at all. Stacking for Crit is an option, but that "cap" is reached very fast aswell. Therefor many holy paladins, including myself go for the 2setbonus; It gives decent stats and a nice buff to cover plea up a bit (only 15% Less healing).

These Heroic tokens are very rare it seems, we only had a few so far, maybe 4 or 5, so wouldn't bet on that.

O, and i still can't see your holy set at armory

I had no problems so far covering Divine Plea with Avenging Wrath and/or Talisman of Resurgence.
Moreover I personally don't think stacking mp5 is a waste. To me it is like 2nd main stat to stack besides int.

I logged out in tank gear so you can see it as it seems you don't need any more than 4 holy palas anyways.

The problem is that the Talisman is actually a waste to use with DP, it will make you do 54% healing instead of 50%
If you are doing that while the other holy paladin can't reach/heal the tank, then you are in deep shit on heroics :p

About the haste, 676 is indeed the softcap.
And by softcap it means that Flash of Light is capped and takes 1 second to cast.
Even at this softcap the best stat for holy paladins is haste, the real cap is after 1100.
The second best stat is mp5, not because it is so good, but because both spellpower and crit aren't that good.

Also the reason why Holy Paladins do not use crit is something else.
We have to focus on keeping our mana up, you know that. My overhealing is usually around 70% so the increased healing from crit can be ignored.
So now we have mp5 and crit:
1 point of crit is worth 0.313 mp5
So an item with 100 haste and 100 crit is as good as an item with 100 haste and +/- 30 mp5.
As both of you know, items usually come with more mp5 than that.

And intel, it comes automaticly on all of our gear. So you don't have to 'look' for gear with intel as a green stat Razz Would be awesome tho.. Intel and haste as bonus stats xD

There is nice article for those palas who didn't see it about haste:
http://www.theholypaladin.com/blog-09dec-haste-is-not-linear.php

I'm still pretty sure it is not that good to get more haste than the softcap.
